Monte Gordo is a town belonging to the Vila Real de Santo Antonio. It is a municipality that has historically been a fisherman's town. That is what their main source of income came from. During the last years things have changed and now a great deal of their income comes from tourism.

Tourism today is what gives life to Montegordo. Fishing and seafood fishing is still a constant in their daily lives, as it is it's main ingredient in their gastronomy, but tourism has definately made it's mark.
